When I was in an Environmental Science class in the early 1970s', we were all panicked about the coming Ice Age. My professor was a supporter of the goof-ball plan to spread soot over the ice caps to decrease the reflection of sunlight to warm us up. He believed the government needed to start spending money to prevent the Earth from freezing over. 1972 was one of the coldest years on record; and, coincidently, it is the starting year in many reports showing how far the Earth's temperature has risen lately.
Wrought iron fences are great if you want some funky designs on top of your fence. Wrought iron is a strong and beautiful fencing material. They are great as a security measure since they are virtually indestructible. Wrought iron fencing have only one disadvantage, like wood fencing, they also require constant upkeep to prevent discoloration and rusting. You will need to repaint your fences at least once every two or three years.
Wood is probably the oldest type of material that has historically been used for constructing arbors and pergolas. It is inexpensive, readily available, and can be easily cut. Furthermore, wood can be stained or painted to match another existing structure, such as the house, shed or garage. One downfall of wood is that it does decay over time. Wood can also harbor certain types of pests, and it will eventually rot, splinter, and crack. The types of wood that can be used in an arbor or pergola are almost endless, but generally it's a good idea to look for a wood that weathers well and resists decay, such as cedar. For a rustic look, consider using log cedar. For a very basic, rudimentary structure, you could even use fallen timber, branches, and twigs tied together.
Finally, one of the most important things to look out for in a design for a fence or gate is the price. The products of different fence fabricators, are obviously different in both quality and design and it only makes sense that their cost be different as well. Fences are important but it is good to remain within budget for your fence. The best choice are the fence fabricators, who are a best at all- design, quality and price.
