When homeowners want to improve their properties, they want additions that will increase the value and enhance the appearance of their homes. Sturdy, well-designed residential fences can add privacy and beauty to a residence. If installed incorrectly or without consideration to the style of the home, fences can detract from the home's exterior design.
Arbors and pergolas can be either functional or purely ornamental. If using an arbor for a functional purpose, consider adding a bench or swing to create a cozy nook for sitting and enjoying your garden. Large pergolas can be used as an overhead cover for a deck or patio. While the top of the pergola will probably not keep out rainwater, it can be designed to cast much needed shade on your outdoor seating area. Arbors and pergolas with lattice sides and tops can also provide a supporting structure for vines and climbing plants. Consider planting a climber like clematis, honeysuckle, or trumpet vine at the base of your arbor or pergola to create a beautiful floral focal point in your landscape.
Usually, its required that the fence has to be at least 4ft high and has to feature a self-closing gate for safety purposes. But, you need to check in with the local codes to know for sure.
I'll lead off with the prize of my collection, dating from my marriage to David Ramsay, Husband #2. We drove for hours to visit his sister Mary and her family. Mary hadn't come to our wedding, sent a card, or otherwise acknowledged our marriage. But she did take the time to lay out a very presentable dinner, complete with a large roast chicken. It was picture perfect in a way that Betty Crocker would have admired greatly (provided that fictional Betty had ever existed).
