Corina Marisol. pergola. May 12th , 2017.
...One day, I pulled a fence photo out of this box and thought Id see if it would like its own, personal journal page. I wondered what it might tell me if I listened carefully. I did listen, and I was well rewarded. Every post in every picture was eager to speak. Gradually, over months and years, each photo came to have a journal page clipped to it, and on that page were many dated journal entries. I imagined the image on the photo speaking to me in the first person, telling me its name and its story, its hopes, its worries, its wisdom. Eventually these journal entries became the foundation for the poems in this book. Each poem is placed alongside the photo of its original fence author.

When we talk about pergola design, we're partly referring to the materials used to construct it. The most common material choices are wood, plastic, or metal. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. We'll begin with wood, which is arguably the most popular material choice. When purchasing or building a wooden pergola, the most important consideration is the type of wood used. Redwoods, such as cedar, are preferable because they are naturally resistant to rot, decay, and insect infestations. If building your own pergola, you may want to shy away from treated woods, particularly if the structure will be used to support climbing plants. The chemicals in treated wood can poison and kill some types of plants. When constructing the pergola, be sure to use stainless steel fasteners that won't rust.
according to the Latin word pergula, is the oldest definition of a pergola. Originally the pergola was used to cover walkways and to grow grape vines from. It then became somewhat of a status symbol in the gardens of Renaissance Italy.
